Ondo: The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has taken decisive action against the Sector Commander in Ondo State following the discovery of a worn-out tyre on one of the corps’ patrol vehicles. This incident highlights the FRSC’s commitment to upholding its safety standards and core values.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mohammed expressed his condemnation of the infraction, emphasizing the FRSC’s zero tolerance for any compromise against the corps’ core values and safety standards. The vehicle in question was initially intercepted and booked for the infraction, but the Sector Commander will now face further sanctions and be required to pay the fine due to his negligence.
The incident came to light after a video of the patrol vehicle with the worn-out tyre went viral on social media, drawing significant public attention. Mohammed acknowledged the public’s role as watchdogs over the FRSC’s services, but stressed that the incident represents a complete departure from the corps’ operational and safety procedures.
The FRSC Corps Marshal reiterated the agency’s commitment to maintaining high-quality standards, particularly in vehicle maintenance, and pledged to continue enhancing safety protocols. He assured that the management would supervise field commands diligently, and commanding officers are expected to maintain the corps’ ideals.
