FMINO Men’s Volleyball Team Triumphs Over Petroleum Resources at FEPSGA.

Port Harcourt: The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO) men’s volleyball team achieved a decisive victory against the Ministry of Petroleum Resources at the ongoing Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The match, held on Friday, showcased the prowess of the Information team as they swept through their opponents in two straight sets with scores of 15-4 and 15-6, marking a promising start to their campaign.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the FMINO team, consisting of nine members drawn from the ministry and its agencies, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill. The players represented Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and Voice of Nigeria (VON). Key players included Chris Odhomi, Godwin Samuel, Solomon Mundung, Thomas Bello, Sylvester Bikut, Ishaku Musa, Victor Okoye, Muhyideen Jimoh, and Isah Tsamiye.

Team Information dominated the initial sets, launching an aggressive start that left Team Pe
troleum Resources struggling to keep up. A standout performance from team captain Godwin Sam, who delivered four powerful kills in quick succession during the first set, highlighted the match. Despite a brief rally from Petroleum Resources, spurred by a service error from Information, the Information team maintained their momentum and secured the first set 15-4.

The second set followed a similar pattern, with Team Information executing a 9-0 run that underscored their offensive strength. Although a few errors allowed their opponents to score, the Information team quickly regrouped to close the set 15-6, cementing their dominance in a straight-set win.

The FMINO team, led by player-coach Chris Odhomi, expressed satisfaction with their performance. ‘We did a really good job trying to stay steady,’ Odhomi remarked, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus regardless of the opposition. The team is scheduled to face Ministry of Finance, ICPC, and NAPTIP in their upcoming matches, with the first match set
for Saturday at 9 a.m.
