Abuja: The Etsu of Kwali, Mr. Luka Nizassan III, has praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in enhancing security within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surrounding areas. Nizassan expressed his appreciation during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, highlighting the positive changes observed in his community due to the minister’s initiatives.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Nizassan credited the improvement in security to the collaborative efforts between the FCT administration and local community vigilance groups. He noted that this partnership had been crucial in tackling issues such as kidnapping and other security threats that previously plagued the area. Nizassan remarked that before Nyesom Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister, some communities were known hotspots for criminal activities.
Nizassan further acknowledged the minister’s support in providing resources like operational vehicles to assist local vigilantes. Since his enthronement in May 2024, Nizassan has also taken proactive steps to maintain security and combat theft and burglary. He has engaged with scavengers to address their involvement in criminal activities, such as handling stolen goods.
Additionally, intelligence officers have been deployed to known criminal hideouts to gather valuable information for security agencies. Nizassan emphasized the importance of actionable intelligence in preventing and responding to crime. He identified areas such as Pai-junction, Mamu, Yangoji, Gada-biyu, and Kwaita as frequent spots for kidnappers’ informants, who often pose as petty traders.
Nizassan affirmed that his ongoing collaboration with security agencies has significantly reduced kidnapping incidents in the region. He stressed the need for continued efforts to safeguard life and property in the community.
