EFCC Nabs 4 Chinese, 27 Other Suspected Illegal Miners in Jos

Jos: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained four Chinese nationals and 27 others over alleged illegal mining activities in Jos. This development was announced in a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in Abuja.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the suspects were apprehended on Saturday at the premises of Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, located at Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, Jos. The arrests followed credible intelligence linking the company to illicit mining operations within the state.

The apprehended individuals include four Chinese and 27 Nigerians, some of whom are suppliers found in possession of unprocessed solid minerals believed to have been mined illegally. Additionally, authorities recovered several exhibits during the arrests, including a truck loaded with eight bags of processed Monazite weighing 1000kg, with each bag valued at N4 million.

The EFCC spokesperson indicated that the suspects would face legal proceedings once investigations are completed.
