Abuja: The Dangote Industry Ltd. has pledged its commitment to investing in education through scholarship schemes, healthcare, and other sectors to boost socio-economic activities in Nigeria. Alhaji Hashem Ahmed, General Manager and Federal Government Liaison Officer of the company, made this known at the Dangote Special Day, during the ongoing 20th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) in Abuja. The theme of the trade fair is ‘Sustainability: Consumption, Incentives, and Taxation.’
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the fair commenced on Sept. 25 and will end on Oct. 6, 2025. Ahmed highlighted that the Dangote Group is dedicated to ensuring a strong foundation for the Environment, Society, and good corporate Governance (ESG). The company will continue to invest in education through scholarship schemes benefiting hundreds of students each year, while also building schools, equipping health centers, and launching alternative fuel projects to reduce its carbon footprint.
At the Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana, Kogi, several life-changing initiatives have been introduced, including the recent training and empowerment of 46 solar entrepreneurs to provide affordable and clean energy solutions to their communities. Ahmed emphasized that the trade fair is an important forum for business networking, innovative exchanges, and economic dialogue in Nigeria.
The Dangote Group has actively participated in tree planting campaigns, clean water projects, expanded community healthcare services, and supported youth empowerment through vocational training programs. Ahmed expressed appreciation for the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (ACCI) dedication to creating a conducive business environment and highlighted the strategic collaboration between the Dangote Group and the chamber, which aims to promote a prosperous, industrialized, and globally competitive Nigeria.
Ahmed thanked the business partners and dedicated dealers of Dangote products, acknowledging their role in the brand’s success. He emphasized the importance of responsible consumption, supporting local industries, and prioritizing local content for a sustainable and competitive economy.
Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of ACCI, praised the long-standing partnership with the Dangote Group and its contributions to the growth and visibility of the trade fair. He noted that the Dangote Group’s investments in local value addition, backward integration, and renewable energy solutions align with the chamber’s vision for a competitive and self-reliant initiative. He also commended the Dangote Group for its consistent support of the trade fair, enhancing its profile and attracting investors and exhibitors.
This year’s fair highlights the ‘BABA FEAST, Buy Africa, Build Africa’ initiative, resonating with the Dangote Group’s role in promoting Made-in-Nigeria goods across global markets.
