Lagos: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a warning to Nigerians about individuals posing as recipients of contract award letters for construction projects, aiming to defraud the public.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Ali, stated that these fraudsters are falsely claiming to have access to special financial interventions on behalf of the CBN. These claims are unfounded and intended to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
Mrs. Ali emphasized that the CBN has ceased direct development interventions and special projects funding, aligning with its current management’s focus. The bank has not authorized any public notices regarding such interventions on social media or other news outlets.
The CBN remains steadfast in its mission to ensure monetary and price stability and maintain a sound financial system in Nigeria. The public is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or publications to the relevant law enforcement
agencies.
