Abuja: The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a collaboration with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to introduce an Application Programming Interface (API) integration platform. This initiative aims to provide prompt and efficient service delivery to customers.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Registrar-General of the CAC, Mr. Hussaini Magaji, highlighted the significance of the platform during its inauguration in Abuja. He emphasized that the integration of NIBSS into the CAC portal is in response to customer demand for more immediate services. The new platform allows customers to access CAC services through the organization’s super-agents, including NIBSS.
Magaji explained that the initiative is designed to enable selected private sector organizations, referred to as ‘super agents,’ to access and retrieve data from the CAC database for a fee. This integration will allow these agents to customize the data into specific formats requested by their clients, beyond the standard services provided by the commission.
He further stated that API integration, which was previously available only to a few government agencies, is now being extended to private organizations capable of delivering specialized services in compliance with regulatory standards. The integration is sensitive to the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, ensuring that personally identifiable information is protected and may be restricted.
Magaji acknowledged the support from pioneer super agents, including NIBSS, Moniepoint, Opay, and Oasis Management Company Limited, in making the integration possible. He emphasized the initiative’s role in enhancing the ease of doing business and its overall benefits to the country.
The Executive Director of Business Development at NIBSS, Ngover Ihembe-Nwankwo, reiterated NIBSS’s commitment to improving trust, transparency, and ease of doing business through secure data verification services. She noted that the new platform represents a collaborative achievement aimed at integrating access, innovation, and security to empower citizens and businesses.
Ihembe-Nwankwo praised the CAC leadership for its innovative approach and reaffirmed NIBSS’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote digital transformation and service efficiency in Nigeria. She highlighted NIBSS’s long-standing focus on reducing costs within the financial services ecosystem and enhancing interoperability and interconnectivity.
