Abuja: The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at its meeting on Wednesday in Abuja, passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu. The President said the commendation from the party’s highest decision-making organ was a call for more hard work, and promised not to fail the party faithful.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the vote of confidence, viewing it as a challenge to intensify efforts in pursuing the country’s sovereignty in food security, investment, and development. He noted the decline in food prices, especially with Ramadan approaching, and acknowledged the positive changes in Nigeria amidst global instability.
Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their continued belief and trust in the APC and pledged to work diligently with other government branches for the nation’s greater good. He commended APC governors and executives for their unwavering commitment and acknowledged the electoral successes achieved across various states. He also expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for their prompt consideration of the budget.
The President praised the party’s National Working Committee for its performance and urged measures to address the crises in some states. He proposed setting up committees to resolve these issues and appealed for calm and collaboration among party leaders in the states.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s National Chairman, expressed gratitude to members for their steadfastness and reassured them of the party’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the ruling party but affirmed their collective ability to overcome them.
Sen. Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, reiterated the National Assembly’s support for President Tinubu in addressing the nation’s economic and developmental challenges. He assured that the Senate would expediently pass bills to enhance national development and improve the economy.
Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, praised the President for his vision and courage in making difficult yet necessary decisions crucial for Nigeria’s developmental progress.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC NEC meeting occurred a day after the party’s caucus meeting, where leaders lauded President Tinubu’s administration for economic improvements, noting a GDP growth of 3.84 per cent in the last quarter of 2024 and a decline in inflation.
