Abuja: The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring strong support in empowering women in leadership, business, and entrepreneurship. The ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, emphasized that the support would enable women and girls to recognize and stand for their rights.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chief Emeka Obegolu reaffirmed ACCI’s dedication to driving change in women’s rights, fostering gender equality, and taking decisive action toward the empowerment of women across all sectors of society. He highlighted the pivotal role women play in driving economic transformation and stated that ACCI is not just advocating for equality but also committed to accelerating actions that remove barriers, expand opportunities, and ensure active participation of women and girls in economic and social development.
Obegolu urged government institutions, private sectors, and civil society organizations to collaborate in accelerating policies that protect women’s rights. He emphasized the need to move beyond conversations to concrete steps that amplify women’s voices, protect their rights, and grant them equal access to opportunities fostering innovation and sustainable growth.
Mrs. Roseline Nwosu, Vice-President, Women Development and Gender Matters of ACCI, remarked that women should not have to exert as much effort as men to gain recognition and appreciation. Meanwhile, Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, Director-General of ACCI, reiterated the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to advancing gender-inclusive policies that foster economic growth and social development. He expressed ACCI’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders across public and private sectors to implement policies ensuring women’s full participation in economic activities.
Jideani noted that empowering women is both a moral imperative and a strategic necessity for national progress. He affirmed ACCI’s continued support for initiatives equipping women with skills, resources, and opportunities needed to excel in business, leadership, and innovation.
As part of the celebration, ACCI’s Amazon took center stage in a special video campaign, sharing their vision for a world where every woman has the opportunity to rise. The video featured inspiring messages from ACCI Amazons, emphasizing aspirations for a society guaranteeing equal access to opportunities, financial independence, and leadership roles for women.
