Abuja: The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Sani Musa, has assured that the Senate is committed to producing legislation from the tax reform bills aimed at transforming Nigeria’s economy into a trillion-dollar base. He highlighted that President Bola Tinubu has tasked the National Assembly with this ambitious goal, and the legislature is dedicated to crafting a tax law that will be acceptable across the country.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sen. Musa made these remarks while speaking with journalists in Abuja. He emphasized that after the recent public hearing on the tax reform bills, the committee would thoroughly consider all stakeholders’ input on their merits. ‘We are going to give this country a piece of legislation that is workable,’ Musa stated. He further explained that following the review, the committee plans to engage in a three-day retreat for consultations with experts, and they are also in discussions with the Attorney-General of the Federation to ensure the new law is both constitutional and practical.

Sen. Musa stressed the importance of creating a law that is acceptable to all Nigerians, reflecting a shared vision of a trillion-dollar economy for the country, aligning with the President’s economic aspirations. In related comments, Sen. Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central expressed his support for the bills, describing them as pivotal for Nigeria’s development and dismissing claims of regional opposition.
