Security guard shot and wounded at Monte Casino during apprehension of suspects

A security guard was shot and wounded at Monte Casino in Johannesburg and a case of attempted murder and possession of stolen property has subsequently been opened at Douglasdale SAPS.

It is alleged the security guards spotted a suspicious VW Caddy van with registration FR37SP-GP in the parking lot. They allegedly shot at the tyres of the van to force-stop it as the driver was speeding off. Two suspects were apprehended while the driver managed to escape.

Police were called to the scene and five wheels of 4×4 vehicles were recovered in the Caddy. According to the suspects these were stolen at Menlyn Shopping Centre, Pretoria and Mall of Africa in Midrand.

The suspects will appear in court soon.
