The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izidbih, has described relations between his country and Algeria as “strong and diversified”.
He added in a statement issued to the meida upon his arrival at the Houari-Boumediene International Airport here Tuesday that his visit would be an opportunity to exchange views on ways to strengthen relations between Mauritania and Algeria.
He added that ties between both countries were “historical”, while highlighting both peoples’ common interests.
“The Algerian people are highly regarded by Mauritanians,” the Mauritanian official affirmed, recalling “the historical solidarity” shown by Algeria in the establishment of the national Mauritanian currency.
The Mauritanian Minister also stressed that his visit was to help prepare for the next Arab Summit which would be held in Nouakchott.
