MONTREAL, QUEBEC -Lumenpulse luminaires were chosen to illuminate many of Montreal’s flagship buildings as part of the celebrations for the 375 th anniversary and the 150 th anniversary of Confederation. The Jacques-Cartier Bridge, an architectural emblem of the Montreal landscape, unveiled its brand new lighting concept called CONNEXIONS VIVANTES on May 17, 2017. The new lighting will evolve with the seasons thanks to intelligent programming to create a unifying symbol And dynamic in the heart of the Montreal landscape.
“We are proud to have contributed to the illumination of these emblems that give elegance to the silhouette of the city,” said Francois-Xavier Souvay, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lumenpulse Group. “As proud Montrealers, we felt a great responsibility to provide an optimal and relevant lighting solution that would reveal all the splendor of the city and bring a ray of light into the sky of Montreal for more than a decade. “
The new Jacques-Cartier bridge was brought to light by a group led by Moment Factory and including six other Montreal multimedia and lighting studios: Ambiances Design Productions, ATOMIC3, Lighting Public / Umbrages, Lucion Media, Achievements and UDO Design.
The collective used approximately 95 Lumenfacade high-performance luminaires to illuminate the bridge’s pillars, and approximately 480 Lumenbeam XLarge durable, high-performance luminaires, carefully concealed within the structure and bathing it with a uniform projection of color.
The project is part of a series of new lighting concepts celebrating many of the city’s landmarks such as the Biosphere on A�le Sainte-HelAne. Created by the firm 4U2C, under the artistic supervision of light designer Yves Aucoin, the newest design improves the existing lighting system and highlights the architectural qualities of the structure. The appearance of the sphere is therefore in perpetual change, as varied patterns of color and intensity appear on the metallic structure.
The Jacques-Cartier Bridge joins the constellation of Montreal icons such as Place Ville-Marie, the Mont Royal cross, the BiosphAre and the Olympic Stadium mast, which shines with all its splendor, offering a new blast to Montreal’s night sky .
