TORONTO, ONTARIO – Bombardier Commercial Aircraft confirms that Ilyushin Finance Co. (IFC) has converted an option to purchase a firm Q400 aircraft. This Moscow leasing company, which has now placed a firm order for two Q400 aircraft, has entered into a lease agreement with Jambojet Limited (Jambojet) of Kenya for these two aircraft.
“The agreement on these new generation turboprop aircraft is a major development for IFC’s international leasing business,” said Alexander Rubtsov, IFC Chief Executive Officer. The demand for high-performance turboprop aircraft such as the Q400 continues to grow. The signature of this lease with Jambojet is therefore a happy event. “
Jambojet is expected to take delivery of the first Q400 leased in May 2017 and the second later in the year. Deliveries of these two turboprop aircraft will bring the number of Q Series aircraft in Africa to more than 120 aircraft including about 70 Q400 aircraft.
“We are impressed by the level of professionalism demonstrated by IFC throughout the process leading up to this first agreement and we are delighted to have found a trusted and reliable partner to support our development plans,” said Willem Hondius, Chief Executive Officer of Jambojet. The performance of the Q400 aircraft proved to be above our expectations in all respects. With its low operating costs and unparalleled passenger experience, the Q400 turboprop has helped us optimize and develop our business; This is undeniably the pivot of our growth strategy. “
“We are proud of the continued success of the Q400 aircraft in Africa. Jambojet’s activities demonstrate the Q400’s capabilities and qualities that make it the perfect choice for this region, “explains Jean-Paul Boutibou, Vice President, Sales, Middle East and Africa, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. The Q400 is a valuable asset for owners and operators, and we are confident that there will be many more opportunities for IFC and Jambojet to leverage the performance and economy features of this aircraft. “
Bombardier recorded firm orders for a total of 573 Q400 aircraft.
