Death of Saskatchewan Penitentiary inmate

PRINCE ALBERT, SASKATCHEWAN – Correctional Service Canada

On June 7, 2017, Christopher Andrew Van Camp, a detainee in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary died in our custody.

The emergency services were called. The detainee could not be resuscitated.

At the time of his death, Mr. Van Camp, aged 37, was serving a 5-year, 5-month and 12-day sentence for armed robbery, fraud, breaking and entering, breaking and entering, since June 6, 2012 Criminal possession , possession of property obtained by crime, disobedience of court order, failure to appear.

The detainee’s relatives were informed of his death.

As always with the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner were notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
