Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal received here Wednesday the visiting Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih.
The Mauritanian Minister is here as a special envoy and bearer of a message from the President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Also present at the meeting was Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Ramtane Lamamra.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement later that the meeting was an opportunity to assess bilateral relations in their various aspects. At the end of this evaluation, the two sides “agreed on the need to strengthen co-operation relations as well as their development”, the statement added.
It also noted that the upcoming meeting in Algiers of the 18th Algerian-Mauritanian High Joint Commission would be an opportunity to deepen relations.
The two sides also broached “the progress of the political, security and humanitarian situation in the sub-region before exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest relating to the upcoming holding, in Nouakchott (Mauritania), of the Arab summit”, added the statement
